 Economics I found interesting....

Which means you probably won't laugh.gif

Household incomes have grown steadily since the depths of the "great recession" as it has been labeled. Not because wages have gone up, however - it's because Americans are working more hours. I can tell you from my own experience managing companies that we figured out we had too much payroll standing around during the "boom" times from 2000 to 2008. (the fake boom times, actually). I will leave politics out of it except to say that Obama gets too much blame for stagnant wage growth, and Trump can not do as much as he thinks he can to promote it.

Along with this realization came the decisions to employ less people and expect more production out of them. This is why you would see many companies with good earnings while few people got raises - there was simply a glut of people, which of course drives down wages. Additionally, I argue that payrolls and profit margins were too small to begin with, due to silly HR initiatives and labor costs driven up by non-essential unionization - those that would argue with me correctly point out that unions are historically weak right now, and they would have a point.

So what's the "cure"? Surely not minimum wage hikes, as that just contributes to unemployment, and if the tight labor market we currently have was enough to accelerate wage growth, it would have done so by now. My lowly opinion is that many of the historical markets and jobs are gone for good, and more people should concentrate on starting their own small business, or learning a trade.

100K on a college degree is a terrible investment anymore..................

Anyway, that's my $.02

I can't disagree with a word of that.

What I found most notable about the article was that it was free from any jargon, and free from taking any political sides. Which is exactly what you need to run a business--no distractions from the outside world.

Good thing, too. Else soon enough, you'd get fired, go on Welfare, and we'd have to change your name to ANM--Angry Ni**ger Man.

Great quote - I may steal that one............

I have no idea if EBT cards can buy smokes. So many ways around that though - I've seen people return a purchase immediately for cash to buy what they want. I have heard they can sell their benefits for a 35% discount for cash also.

I remember tweakers trying to sell food stamps for smokes and Mad Dog 20/20 back in the day. Seems like they were getting like 50-75 cents on the dollar.

Yes, that's what I was referring to......

Though the capitalist in me would like to buy $50 worth of food for $25, there's no way I could present an EBT card for payment - not unless I truly needed it.
