I imagine you'd pull in a lot of the Old Liberal vote - those of us who are tired of our government spending a shitload of money without any accounting for it, but we still believe in a lot of liberal social issues like gay marriage, abortion, and so on.

After all, I'm considering not hating Scott Brown - in his first big vote, he went against his own party (to extend unemployment). He said he had to vote the way his constituency wanted and not the way the Republican party wanted. This attitude twanged a chord deep in my heart - a politician who actually votes the way the people who elected him want him to? This is unheard of in Washington today.

That's what they'd get, if they wanted it. Dumped the backing offered last summer, as you remember, when it came attached to a pro-life commitment. Doubt I'd last too long without setting a few hairstyles ablaze, but I would like to see it through someday. Prolly get my arse thrown out for decorum violations grin.gif

And you better hope they don't look in your bedroom.

Or talk to me. Or Mel.

For serious? I think you should run. You've taken that company back from the edge; you've hired and trained great employees; you've either fired or laid off people. You know the financial side of things but you also know the emotional fallout. You look good in a suit, and you ride a Harley.

You're a fiscal conservative but a social liberal.

Big drawback? You're not willing to claim you're a Christian just because that would pander to the crowd. Although I suspect if you got up in public and told people you weren't gonna claim a religion just to make them happy because you're "still looking and I won't say I'm a Christian just to earn points, that would be something no true Christian would do" - half of them would seriously think you're in the process of becoming a Christian.

What you don't know how to do is shade the truth to please the audience. That could either work for you or against you, but at least for once the electorate wouldn't have somebody just blowing smoke up their collective asses.

I'd like to see you do it. You better start now, because it might take some time to work your way up to Washington, which is where we need you.

Start checking out all possible backers. Walk away from any of them that give you or Mel a creepy feeling. Decide if there's a level of creepiness you can both live with.
